What should I expect in a Behaviour Consult?
Behaviour consults are generally aimed at diagnosing problems with your dog and designing a program in which to address them through behaviour modification techniques.
Can I bring my partner?
Yes it is worthwhile considering bringing anyone who is directly responsible in dealing with your dog.
Who will be the specialist taking my consult?
Steve Courtney is our resident and only behaviourist; he is a Nationally Accredited Behaviour Consultant.
What methods will be used on my dog?
This can vary greatly between many methods, Steve has designed and developed many of his own strategies and methods so that are quite unite and unlike others you may have seen. You will not have to participate in any training style that you don’t feel comfortable with.
What breeds or problems won’t you help with?
There are no restrictions here at K9 Pro, we don’t support nor agree with Breed Specific arguments and there is no problem too big that Steve will not work on with you.
Where will the consult take place?
Generally the first consult is best done at our facility in Kurrajong NSW, this way Steve will have what ever resources he may need and be able to make sure the session runs to plan. If you happen to need further consults, these may take place in specific locations so that the actual problem can be addressed in situation.
How many consults will I need?
Steve is normally booked out a number of weeks in advance, it isn’t our goal to have you come back for numerous consults but instead to provide you the best results we can in as little visits as we can manage. Some behaviour problems are sorted in one session, other, more deep seated psychological issues may take more than one consult, it is really impossible to predict until Steve has assessed your dog.
Will I have to leave my dog with you?
No, we strive to involve you in the rehabilitation process and teach you to work with your dog the whole way through. We don’t have any secrets, the process we use with your dog is totally open for you to see, watch and participate in.
My dog has some serious issues, can you help?
Steve is presented with some of the most severe cases in dog behaviour in this country, he is well known for getting outstanding results in dogs others have given up on. Whether you have a serious problem or a simple one, rest assured we don’t think there are better options than coming to us.
